Lessons with Andy (19th October)
Topic: On uncertainty and the Christian perspective on how to seek comfort
Verse: Romans 8:26-28, James 4:13-15
26 - Holy Spirit helps in our infirmities (weaknesses), helps verbalise our feelings into words, 28 - rephrase "according to His purpose " as "followers of Christianity"
The Conviction of the Christian is that good will come out of those who follow God. God puts things into place in His own time.
My personal concern is time. It's taking longer than expected, so that where the uncertainty sets in.
To trust in God's plan as our lives are just a tidy dot in the grander scheme of things. To transfer the confidence from myself, onto God, and to depend on God's capability.
This is a change in mindset to place the faith in God instead of yourself. It seems that once the "task" is done that Christians will move on, and not dwell on how the task went (like worrying how the job interview went). They just move on once it's over.
It's how to let go. Giving control rather than taking control.
Lessons with Andy (2nd November)
Question: Theophilus, are they a person, or group of people?
Verses: Acts 1:1, Luke 1:3
While in the book of Acts it wasn't clear, the book of Luke showed it clearly as an individual.
Question: About my concern on non-Christian followers as being labelled as "fools"
Verses: Matthew 7:24-27, Matthew 25:1-13
Words of wisdom from Jesus (build on the rock), with Him giving analogies of two men building houses, one wise and the other, foolish.
Religious foundations built on Jesus's teachings. It's about listening to his lessons and doing the work through the words of wisdom. It's the application of the lessons that shows the wisdom through those words.
God asks us to be kind to others because God created everyone. We foster care and strengthen our foundation in life because we want to build relationships.
We're talking about life and the afterlife, and that the wise prepare for a life after this, to join God.
When we talk about fools in the context of the Bible, we're taking about poor choices or decisions, and not fool as being stupid.
In Matthew 25, the bridegroom is Jesus, and his bride being the church.
