Dancin' Man

Note that James is one step above Sun and I,
thus the sudden explosion of apparent height growth

Yea... Sun's concert was amazing!! My favourite one was the Fusion Egyptian, which had these belly dancers performing. It was spectacular (yes, the dancers too were spectacular). Too bad there were only about 7 shots since Sun passed James and I a cam with almost full memory.

Oh, and Dave Nuku was there and she went hunting for him during the intermission. The funny thing is that she didn't know how he looked like. Lols

Well, they got their pic in the end

Then on our way home in the car, she was at the backseat with me and her young cousin.

She jokingly asked her cousin: "Hey, you wanna go to a pub?"
Her cousin replied: "Yes. Sure" And she was only about 8 years old!!
Then I told Sun: "You know, you're suppose to tell her what's a pub only can you ask her."
Sun: "Oh right. Okay. A pub is where you go drink and smoke and all the bad stuff."
Me: "Drink what?"
Sun: "Aiyo. Alright! A pub is where you go drink alcohol, which is bad, and smoke, which is worse."

After much enlightenment, I guessed her cousin understood the essence of the definition of a pub.

She didn't. She just said "Okay, let's go" HAHA

Then we both watched the Germany vs England game from the second-half onwards. It was pure domination for the Germans. England don't learn, do they? The leave 2 slow defenders (Upson and Terry) behind and push everybody else up. The Germans just had to put 9 man behind the ball and pounce quick and hard on the counter attack. The result: 2 goals in quick succession. It was beautiful football to me. Heck, even the KEEPER assisted the first goal. That's the first assist by a keeper in the competition.

My man of the match, Mesut Özil.

He absolutely instrumental in the German offence and is incredibly creative with the ball. And at 21 years old only, we can expect great things from this attacking midfielder.

Aborted

Well... After 5 minutes of reasoning, I guess it's okay to leave her at the helm. Anyway, the deal swayed to my favour already. Win-win. Funny diplomats...

Coupe de'tat

I hate my prom committee... When will she learn that dictatorship is NEVER the way to go... Now I'm getting some malicious ideas on overthrowing her from her comfy throne... Should I stage a coupe de'tat?? 90% of me says yes... And I'm starting to believe that it is a necessary evil to do so... Am I doing the right thing?

Don't know.

Seems right.

Ah... she won't read this

Das Fusbal

I just came back from dinner not too long ago and saw my sister browsing through Facebook with my cousin on the center stage. I can still remember...

He lives in Singapore and there, the Ministry of Sports sponsor kids from Sect 1 till 3 (equivalent of Standard 1 till 3) to play football. Equipment like jersey, boots, pants and so on are all under government funding so each player gets to choose his number to be on his/her respective jersey along with their name. My smart cousin chose number 1. Number 1, that's like the one and only number specified for Keepers! Why?? He says he chose that number because he is number 1... Lols

Recently they had a friendly match and my aunt took some snapshots. It's been a while since I've posted pics on this blog so I'm also quite happy. Here they are

Pre-game pep talk

I don't really know what was he doing... Did he score?? Dunno...

Haha... He and his oversized training vest

And as you can see, he's the one with the tough guy look, and the peace sign

Unexpected

Today's outing to The Curve wasn't actually revolved around having fun, it was more of just spending time chatting with friends, which was nice for a change. Kevin, Chin, Steffi and I weren't actually a close-knit group so we didn't do much there. We wanted to watch a movie, but couldn't decide which one to watch so that idea was scrapped, tried to go Red Box for karaoke-ing but Steffi and Chin weren't up to it, and practically just roamed around the place chatting.

Yea... We had ice cream at Lecka Lecka and it was an interesting session there. It first started when Kevin asked for a chair from the neighbouring table. The "Can I?" question sparked a conversation on Pn. Shaja, which led me to sharing an experience I had in Form 3 about Kai Sheng's answer on the function of the placenta in our mid-term Science paper. Then, Steffi had to include the health tip that having human placenta with soup helps slow down the aging process in women. The thing is that most gynecologist take the placenta for themselves and make some money by selling them to Chinese herbal stores. So in the end, she asked us, that when our would-be wives were to deliver a baby, to request for the placenta... and give it to her... Eww... Moreover, since we were unimpressed, she indicated that we ourselves should try it out when the time comes... Yummy? No.

Well, it was an interesting outing... Nothing of the usual at all... Which was unique albeit weird as well...

6 Degrees of Separation: Kinda proven...

It's quite a remarkable theory that, surprisingly works... I just added my uncle on Facebook and I took a glimpse of his 6 friends displayed (not not his mutual friends, I'm not THAT dumb) and I see my scoutmaster, Sir Eu Wing... I don't know how they met... Maybe next time I'll ask him. Wow... freaky

Reliving the past

I was watching MTV and it reminded me of an old ad back in my primary school days. So I YouTubed it up and found it. But the quality is kinda grainy... Ch- ch- ch- ch- check it out!

New found love: Last.fm + Chickenfoot

In a whirl of boredom and a dash, okay a boat load, of free time, I recalled Sabr using Last.fm for her music. So I gave it a try. Without trying to act like a kid after watching Iron Man, I'll just say that it is freaking awesome! Because the search engine matches artists to your given taste of music, which is freaktastic since acoustic music isn't very popular in the mainstream of this era.

On the other hand,

I'm loving Chickenfoot!!

No, it's not some Chinese remedial meal. That's chicken feet. I'm talking about the American hard rock "dream team" comprising of ex-Van Halen members Sammy Hagar (vocals) and Michael Anthony (bass), solo musician Joe Satriani (guitar) and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith.

Yea... the album art does seem to look like a foot of a chicken, but it's not! It actually represents 3 different pathways (of Sammy, Anthony and Chad). Initially, it was just for jamming purposes. Then, people started asking whether they're gonna start a band and all. So later on, they decided that they need a guitarist so they called up Joe. And that's how Chickenfoot was established. I'm still waiting for their 2nd studio album, which is in the makes. Their sophomore one is quite good, since I downloaded it. The pirates we all are...

Robert Muraine...

He's the winner of So You Think You Can Dance '08 and also performed in last year's Superstars of Dance. He is one of the people on Mithran's long list of admirations. He is Robert Muraine. Now, less talking, more popping.

Here's the audition video and below is the "battle" he had with the other good popper, Phillip Chbeeb, during the show, followed by an Ikea advertisement after he won the contest. Enjoy

You can... but...

Pn. Shaja's legendary quote. Reminds me of one particular incident with poor Vimell...

He wanted to "see" Kien Beng on some event and Pn. Shaja just said in response: "You can... but..."

Vimell was stunned... His face just muttered what most victims of our English teacher has claimed... It was the what-did-I-say face. So we gave him some tips... Well sorta.

I decided to play with him a little and told him about the "magic word". "What was it?", he asked. "Abracadabra. No, just joking... Haha!" was my reply... He nearly fell for it...

Then Sijie and Wei Li decided to help him as well. They said: "Okay, follow this hint. January, February, March, April..."

And guess what he said?? It was "May, June, July-"

And the class screamed, in surprising unision: "It's "may" you see her, not can you see her!"

Ah, the lessons you learn with Pn. Shaja in your life... Priceless laughter and mockery included.

Dilemma for the 100th time...

After some interrogation, okay interrogation sounds like an overstatement... after some serious questioning by Josh, I'm stuck between two choices, as always huh?

Is forever an understatement, or an overstatement?? I can't tell... Heck, my mind and my heart are in sync but they also disagree occasionally...

and here's some impromptu lines, I won't really call it poetry...

Yet I wait here,
lying in the dark.
One hand outstretched,
the other just holding tightly to my guitar strings,
the only thing I will always find my solace in.
It may just be the only thing I can always rely on.

Oh, and I heard from James and Sunshine that Pn. Shaja was mighty impressed with my essay... I heard she said it was the best in my class. That's an accolade to hear it from her, on any occasion. Hehe
